New Maserati MC20 GT2 Race Car Testing at Monza Misano Circuits – 620 Hp V6 Twin-Turbo Engine

In 2023, I had the pleasure of filming the new Maserati MC20 GT2 in the mule-test version on a couple of occasions during test days at the Monza and Misano circuits in Italy to continue its development. The Italian manufacturer's car was officially presented in June during the race weekend of the 24-hour Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium. In 2023, played its first official race on the French Paul Ricard circuit in the Fanatec GT2 European Series championship. And it is precisely this championship that it will officially and fully tackle in its first racing season starting in 2024. The racing car dedicated to private teams and gentleman drivers marks Maserati's return to racing after almost 20 years from that fantastic and winning project, the MC12, which dominated the race from 2005 to 2010 in the GT1 class. The new MC20 is based on the GT2 car regulations; the mid-mounted 3.0-litre Nettuno V6 Twin-Tubo engine develops 620hp (463 kW) at 7,500 rpm and 730 NM of maximum torque. A 6-speed sequential racing gearbox with paddles on the steering wheel moves it. We find a racing clutch and a self-locking mechanical limited-slip differential. Like the road model, the car is equipped with a splendid ultra-light carbon fibre monocoque to which an FIA-approved roll cage is added. Nel 2023 ho avuto il piacere di filmare in un paio di occasioni la nuova Maserati MC20 GT2 in versione mule-test sui circuiti di Monza e Misano, in Italia, durante delle giornate di test per continuarne lo sviluppo. La vettura del costruttore italiano e' stata presentata ufficialmente nel mese di Giugno durante il weekend di gara della 24h di Spa-Francorchamps in Belgio. Nel 2023 ha disputato la sua prima gara ufficiale sul circuito francese del Paul Ricard nel campionato Fanatec GT2 European Series. Ed e' proprio questo campionato che affrontera' ufficialmente e per intero nella sua prima stagione di gare a partire dal 2024. La vettura da corsa dedicata a team privati e gentleman driver segna il ritorno nelle corse di Maserati dopo quasi 20 anni di distanza da quel fantastico e vincente progetto che fu la MC12 GT1, dominatrice in gara dal 2005 al 2010 in classe GT1. La nuova MC20 e' basata sul regolamento delle vetture GT2; il motore Nettuno V6 Twin-Tubo da 3.0-Litri montato in posizione centrale sviluppa 620hp (463 kW) a 7.500 giri/min e 730 NM di coppia massima. A muoverlo ci pensa un cambio sequenziale racing a 6 rapporti con palette al volante. Troviamo ovviamente frizione racing e differenziale meccanico autobloccante a slittamento limitato. La vettura gia' di partenza, nel modello stradale, e' dotata di una splendida monoscocca ultraleggera in fibra di carbonio a cui si aggiunge un roll-cage omologato FIA.
