This extraordinary example of the 1956 Grand Prix Ferrari-Lancia D50A took part in the 2022 edition of the Goodwood Festival of Speed ??(FOS). The Formula 1 single-seater built by Lancia raced in the 1954-1955 seasons. With the death of their top driver Alberto Ascari, the Turin manufacturer decides to abandon racing and donate the cars to Scuderia Ferrari. These will race in the 1956 season, winning the world championship with pilot Juan Manuel Fangio. Designed by Vittorio Jano, it has the characteristic of having fuel tanks placed on each side, overhanging the body of the car, and between the front and rear wheels. Under the front bonnet, we find a 2.5-litre 90 V8 engine capable of developing 265Hp at 8,500 rpm. The suspensions are independent wheels at the front and a De Dion bridge at the rear. The clutch/gearbox/differential unit is at the end, and the gearbox, arranged transversely, is 5-speed. They are the lightest single-seater of the period, weighing about 650Kg.
