This is the 1956 Aston Martin DB3S – The ICE 2025
23 Marzo, 2025
During The ICE in St. Moritz I filmed this 1956 Aston Martin DB3S.
Painted in the distinctive American racing colors of white with two blue stripes, this car has a documented period racing history. It is an exceptionally original example, retaining its original body, chassis, and period engine. Its full history is known, and it was kept for 43 years by its fourth owner out of a total of six.
In March 1956, the car was delivered to its first owner, Joe Lubin, in California. Under Lubin's ownership, it was raced by Richie Ginther, Bob Drake, Bruce Kessler, Rob Oker, and Bill Love. In 1958, it was sold to Bill de Creeft, who painted it dark blue and added a rollover bar. In 1961, it was sold to Ron Keil, and in 1965, it was acquired by Alan Selby, who kept it for 43 years. The car underwent restoration in the late 1990s. In 2008, it was sold to David Bennett in East Grafton, Marlborough, and in 2017, it was acquired by its current owner.
The DB3S/115 has an extensive race history. In 1956, it competed in several races, including Bakersfield, Pomona, San Diego, Santa Barbara, and Sacramento, with drivers such as Bruce Kessler and Bob Drake. In 1957, it was driven by Richie Ginther, Rob Oker, and Bill Love in events at Pomona, Santa Barbara, Palm Springs, Riverside, and Paramount Ranch. In 1958, Bill de Creeft took the wheel, competing in races at Pomona, Palm Springs, Santa Barbara, Laguna Seca, Riverside, and Hawaii Speed Week. The car continued racing into 1959, with de Creeft achieving several top-ten finishes.
