This is the 1954 Ferrari 250 Monza – Villa d’Este 2025

During the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este I filmed this 1954 Ferrari 250 Monza.
The Ferrari 250 Monza was manufactured in 1954 with just four examples being produced. It combined the chassis of the 750 Monza with the 3 litre V12 engine from the Monza 250 MM developed by Gioachino Colombo. The Ferrari 250 Monza was provided with a De-Dion rear axle and a four-speed manual gearshift arranged in a transaxle layout. The two-seater spider dressed in an aluminium bodywork weighed some 850 kilograms. A power output of 240 hp enabled the sports car to achieve a top speed of around 250 km/h (155 mph).
The car presented here ? Chassis 0442M ? was the third vehicle of this series to be built and the only exemplar to be bodied by Scaglietti. In 1954, the Barchetta was sold to Franco Cornacchia from Scuderia Guastalla. During the motor-sport season, the car was raced by Gerino Gerini and by Cornacchia.
Alongside a string of second and third places during that season, the Ferrari took overall victory in the Trofeo Sardo. However, by far the most impressive race of the season for the 442M was the Carrera Panamericana. The car ran in an outstanding overall fifth place and it took third place in its class.
And the car is shown here in precisely this colour scheme and decal configuration. After the 1954 racing season came to an end, the car was sold to the Mercedes-Benz dealer and importer in Guatemala, Manfredo Lippmann. He had the vehicle repainted in the colours blue-white and gold and planned to campaign with the car at the 12 Hours of Sebring in 1955. However, the vehicle was damaged by a mechanic in the run-up to the race and was unable to take its place at the starting line. By 1958, Lippmann still achieved some top placings, including the victory in the El Salvador Grand Prix.
Since then, the Ferrari has remained in the hands of famous collectors and has featured regularly in major concours.
