I had the pleasure of hearing the roar of the Cadillac V-Series.R LMDh Hypercar again at the Imola circuit. Car number 12, by Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA, entrusted to drivers Alex Lynn, Norman Nato, and Will Stevens completed two days of testing in preparation for the next WEC race, the 6H of Imola scheduled for 18-20 April 2025. The Caddy's large naturally aspirated V8 engine, with a Cross-Plane crankshaft, has an incredible sound that is immediately identifiable compared to all the other cars in its class. Cadillac engineers have developed the LMC55R engine, a 5.5-liter DOHC 90 V8 combined with the 50 kW (67 hp) MGU hybrid system by Bosch. The total power of the two engines is 670 hp, and an Xtrac P1359 seven-speed sequential gearbox moves the car. The Cadillac V-LMDH/V-Series.R project was born based on the LMP2 chassis supplied by the Italian company Dallara and is composed of a carbon fiber monocoque. The braking system is also Italian, using 380/355mm Brembo carbon discs and 6-piston Brembo monobloc calipers. In the 2024 season, Cadillac came in second place in the constructors' standings of the American IMSA championship while it closed the WEC in sixth place. Il grosso motore V8 aspirato della Caddy, con albero motore Cross-Plane, ha un sound pazzesco e subito identificabile rispetto a tutte le altre vetture della sua classe. I tecnici di Cadillac hanno sviluppato il propulsore LMC55R, un 5.5-Litri DOHC V8 90 abbinato al sistema ibrido MGU da 50 kW (67 hp) by Bosch. La potenza complessiva dei due motori e' di 670 Hp e per muovere la vettura ci pensa un cambio Xtrac P1359 sequenziale a sette rapporti. Il progetto della Cadillac V-LMDH/V-Series.R nasce sulla base del telaio LMP2 fornito dall'azienda italiana Dallara ed e' composto da una monoscocca in fibra di carbonio. Nella stagione 2024 la Cadillac e' giunta al secondo posto nella classifica costruttori del campionato americano IMSA mentre ha chiuso il WEC al sesto posto.
