To this day I can't explain what about it caught my attention. In 2000 I was introduced to the owner. He later moved to Vegas in early 2003 and parked it later that year until 2013 when I purchased it. My original plan was to make a reliable "daily driver" out of it. I started by getting it running. Then I replaced the majority of the interior with new front seats, reupholstered rear seat to match the front seats, carpet, headliner, and weather stripping. Swapped out the 4.11 gears for a set of 3.55. That change in gears helped a bit but still wasn't to my liking on the highway. It was at this point that I removed the 727 and replaced it with a A833 O/D unit out of a mid 70's vehicle. This swap allowed 70 mph at 2,300 rpm. This change made the car a lot more enjoyable to drive. In 2015 it started its current form. My 2004 Ram 1500 was totaled. I removed the 5.7 Hemi from the truck and prepped it for install into the Coronet. The interior was completely removed and Lizard Skin thermal insulator and sound deadener was sprayed in the passenger compartment and the trunk area. The car was completely rewired using a generic 18 circuit painless harness. Vintage air handles the HVAC. I made a set of dummy buttons to mimic the factory A/C push buttons. I also modified the dash and installed a set of New Vintage USA gauges. The radio is the original factory radio that has been upgraded to AM/FM, stereo, and a 3.5mm jack. A Nardi steering wheel was installed using a custom mounting adapter. A Digital Guard Dawg PBS II was installed to operate the modern features installed in the vehicle. Power windows (operated by crank switches), power door locks, and push button start. The engine is fed by the Edelbrock E-Street EFI using their sump system. Spark is handled by an MSD 6 Hemi module. Hotchkis/Fox 1.5 shocks were installed on all 4 corners. All bushings were replaced with polyurethane bushings. The rear leaf springs were replaced with a set of leafs that have a higher spring rate. Wheels and tires are a set of 17x8 American Racing VN500 (look like the magnum 500 wheels) with Kumho Ecsta 255/50 17.
