Oscar Piastri testing the 2022 McLaren MCL36 F1 car at Imola Circuit – March 13, 2024

Oscar Piastri took to the track again for a day of testing at the Imola circuit on 13 March 2024. As had already happened in 2024, the English McLaren F1 team chose the Italian circuit for its training days. The following day, the test driver and third guide, the Japanese Ryo Hirakawa, was to conduct the training session. According to the regulations, the car used is from two seasons ago; therefore, the 2022 MCL36 has Pirelli Demo tyres. Even if it is not the current single-seater used in the F1 world championship, it is similar in vital aspects, such as the ground effect surface and the 18" tyres. Therefore, this day of testing was valid for the driver and the team, given the not-distant return to Europe, where the race will take place on the Imola circuit. The young Australian driver of Italian origins, along with Lando Norris, is the official driver of the McLaren team. In his career, he won the Formula Renault Eurocup 2019, the Formula 3 in 2020 and the Formula 2 the following year. In 2023, he landed in Formula 1. In the last grand prix held in Saudi Arabia, he achieved a splendid fourth place aboard the McLaren MCL38. The 2022 test car was designed by James Key and is powered by the Mercedes-AMG M13 E Performance 1.6 V6 turbo-hybrid engine coupled to the 8-speed sequential + reverse McLaren gearbox. In its year of racing, the single-seater finished the season in fifth place in the constructors' championship with 159 points, one podium, and two fast laps. Enjoy! ? Come gia' era avvenuto nel 2024, il team Inglese McLaren F1 ha scelto il circuito Italiano per le sue giornate di allenamento. Il giorno successivo e' toccato al collaudatore e terza guida, il pilota giapponese Ryo Hirakawa, svolgere la sessione di allenamento. La vettura impiegata, secondo i regolamenti, e' quella di due stagioni addietro, quindi la MCL36 del 2022 con pneumatici pirelli Demo. Anche se non e' l'attuale monoposto impiegata nel mondiale F1 e' pero' abbastanza simile in alcuni aspetti chiave come il fondo ad effetto suolo e le gomme da 18". Questa giornata di test e' risultata quindi utile al pilota ed al team in vista del non lontano ritorno in Europa dove si correra' proprio sul circuito di Imola. Il giovane pilota Australiano di origini italiane e' la guida ufficiale del team McLaren assieme a Lando Norris. In carriera ha vinto la Formula Renault Eurocup 2019, la Formula 3 nel 2020 e la Formula 2 l'anno successivo. Dal 2023 e' approdato in Formula 1. Nell'ultimo gran premio appena disputato in Arabia Saudita ha ottenuto uno splendido quarto posto a bordo della McLaren MCL38. La vettura dei test, anno 2022 e progettata da James Key ed e' mossa dal motore Mercedes-AMG M13 E Performance 1.6 V6 turbo-ibrido accoppiata al cambio McLaren sequenziale a 8 rapporti + retromarcia. Nel suo anno di corse la monoposto ha concluso la stagione al quinto posto nel mondiale costruttori con 159 punti, un podio e due giri veloci. Buona visione! ? ???????
