NEW Isotta Fraschini Tipo 6 LMH Competizione Testing at Imola Circuit – 3.0-litre V6 Turbo Engine

With great pleasure and unexpectedly, I was lucky to see and film the new Isotta Fraschini Tipo 6 LMH Competizione, which will participate in the 2024 WEC (FIA World Endurance Championship). We are on the Imola circuit in Italy, one of the tracks where they will race next season. The car took part in two days of testing for racing cars organized by Kateyama. The drivers chosen to develop the vehicle are Marco Bonanomi, Matteo Malucelli and Jean-Karl Vernay, who continue to collaborate with the technicians of Michelotto Engineering, the partner selected for the construction. The drivers covered around 750 km, and the very variable weather with rain and sun allowed the team to test the car with different setups, all valuable information for the endurance races. The Isotta Fraschini Tipo 6 LMH Competizione adopts a 3.0-litre V6 engine with a single turbo designed by the German company HWA that moves the rear wheels. At the same time, an electric motor capable of developing over 270 hp is located on the front axle. By regulation, power units can deliver 500 kW of total power, approximately 680 hp. For now, this is the only LMH I've heard live that sounds very similar to current F1 cars. The chassis is a carbon fibre monocoque produced in collaboration with ARS Technologies; the suspensions are made up of double wishbones and torsion bar springs. The development of the springs/shock absorbers group is entrusted to the Multimatic company; Brembo produces the carbon-ceramic disc brakes, while the differential and the 7-speed gearbox with steering wheel controls are made by the XTrac company. Con grande piacere ed inaspettatamente ho avuto la fortuna di vedere e filmare la nuova Isotta Fraschini Tipo 6 LMH Competizione che prendera' parte al campionato 2024 del WEC (FIA World Endurance Championship). Ci troviamo sul circuito di Imola, in Italia, una delle piste dove correranno la prossima stagione. L'auto ha preso parte a due giornate di test per vetture racing organizzate da Kateyama. I piloti scelti per sviluppare la vettura sono Marco Bonanomi, Matteo Malucelli e Jean-Karl Vernay che continuano a collaborare con i tecnici della Michelotto Engineering, partner scelto per la costruzione. In totale i piloti hanno percorso circa 750 Km ed il meteo molto variabile con pioggia e sole ha permesso al team di testare l'auto con differenti set-up, tutte informazioni utili per le gare Endurance. L'Isotta Fraschini Tipo 6 LMH Competizione adotta un motore 3.0-Litri V6 con singolo turbo progettato dall'azienda tedesca HWA che muove le ruote posteriori mentre un motore elettrico in grado di sviluppare oltre 270 cv si trova sull'asse anteriore. Da regolamento entrambe le power unit combinate possono erogare 500 KW di potenza, circa 680 cv. Devo dire che per ora questa e' l'unica LMH, di quelle che ho sentito dal vivo, che suona molto simile alle attuali monoposto di F1. Il telaio e' un monoscocca in fibra di carbonio prodotto in collaborazione con ARS Technologies, le sospensioni sono composte da quadrilateri con doppio braccio oscillante e barre di torsione. Lo sviluppo del gruppo molle/ammortizzatori e' affidato all'azienda Multimatic, i freni a disco carboceramici sono prodotti dalla Brembo mentre il differenziale ed il cambio a 7 marce con comandi al volante e' realizzato dall'azienda XTrac.
