NEW 2024 Maserati MCXtrema Track-Only Hypercar testing at Misano Circuit – 730Hp V6 Twin-Turbo Sound

Finally, I was lucky enough to film the new Maserati MCXtrema on the Misano circuit during a race car test day organized by Kateyama. The hypercar built in Modena and made in 62 examples is intended for exclusive use on the track, exactly like its cousins from Maranello with the XX series of cars. I find the MCXtrema spectacular; the aesthetic similarities with the MC20 road/GT2 are very few. Here, we note how this is a different extreme project. The car is speedy even in damp/wet track conditions, like the tests in the video. The engine's voice is pleasant, it has a low and aggressive sound with the addition of spectacular flames coming out of the exhaust which are often seen during gear changes. It's an actual track car, no doubt about it. The rear lights that recall the Maserati trident symbol are a nice stylistic find. Undoubtedly, a great deal of work has been done on the aerodynamic level with a completely flat underbody, front splitter, rear wing and shark fin, rear diffuser and cooling systems for the engine, gearbox and brakes. In the central position we find the Nettuno engine derived from the MC20 road version, it is a 90 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 capable of developing 730Hp (540kW) and a maximum torque of 730 Nm. A sequential six-speed with a paddle shifter gearbox moves the engine. We also find a racing clutch and a self-locking mechanical limited-slip differential. Externally the bodywork is made of composite materials, the underbody is in carbon fibre, wholly closed; windshield and side windows are made of polycarbonate. The front and rear suspensions have double wishbones, 4-position adjustable shock absorbers and a braking system with carbon discs. The dry weight of the car is approximately 1,300 kg. Finalmente ho avuto la fortuna di filmare la nuova Maserati MCXtrema sul circuito di Misano durante una giornata di test per auto da corsa organizzata da Kateyama. L'hypercar costruita a Modena e realizzata in 62 esemplari e' destinata ad un'uso esclusivo in pista, esattamente come le cugine di Maranello con la serie di vetture XX. Personalmente trovo che la MCXtrema sia spettacolare, le somiglianze estetiche con la MC20 stradale/GT2 sono molto poche. Qui notiamo come questo sia un progetto estremo totalmente diverso. L'auto e' incredibilmente veloce anche nelle condizioni di pista umida/bagnata come quelle dei test che vedete nel video. La voce del motore e' piacevole, ha una sonorita' bassa ed aggressiva con l'aggiunta di spettacolari fiamme in uscita dallo scarico che spesso si vedono nelle cambiate di marcia. Una vera auto da pista, non c'e' dubbio. Lasciatemi dire, la fanaleria posteriore che richiama il simbolo del tridente Maserati e' davvero una bella trovata stilistica. Indubbiamente un grande lavoro e' stato fatto a livello aerodinamico con sottoscocca completamente piatto, splitter anteriore, alettone posteriore e pinna di squalo, diffusore posteriore e sistemi di raffreddamento per motore, cambio e freni. In posizione centrale troviamo il propulsore Nettuno derivato dalla versione MC20 stradale, si tratta di un V6 a 90 da 3.0-Litri twin-turbo capace di sviluppare 730Hp (540kW) ed una coppia massima di 730 Nm. A muoverlo ci pensa un cambio sequenziale da corsa a sei marce con paddle al volante, frizione racing e differenziale meccanico autobloccante a slittamento limitato. Esternamente la carrozzeria e' realizzata in materiali compositi, il sottoscocca e' in fibra di carbonio, completamente chiuso; parabrezza e finestrini laterali sono in policarbonato. Le sospensioni anteriori e posteriori sono a doppi bracci trasversali (double wishbones), ammortizzatori regolabili in 4 posizioni ed impianto frenante con dischi in carbonio.
