McLaren Artura GT4 testing at Misano Circuit – 577Hp 3.0-Litre V6 Twin-Turbo Engine Sound Actions

I had the pleasure of filming the McLaren Artura GT4 of the English Elite Motorsport team during a track test day organized by Kateyama on the Misano circuit in Italy. This model replaced the previous 570S GT4 but with many important innovations, including the new carbon fibre monocoque McLaren Carbon Fiber Lightweight Architecture (MCLA), which provides an exciting weight reduction. Weight is crucial if we consider that compared to the road-going Artura, the hybrid unit is not fitted, allowing the new racing car to be over 100 kg lighter than the outgoing 570S GT4. The engine, mounted longitudinally in a central position, is the M630, a 3.0-litre V6 120 Twin-Turbo capable of developing 577Hp. Significantly lighter and smaller than the previous unit, the M838 V8 used in the 570S GT4, the new V6 engine further improves the power-to-weight ratio, lowers the car's centre of gravity and aids weight distribution. Powering the engine is a seven-speed gearbox with improved performance-optimized ratios, and the transmission system features integrated diagnostic software. The unit is not the same as the eight-speed gearbox in the Artura road car as the latter uses the electric motor for reverse; GT4 regulations require the car to have reverse gear. Ho avuto il piacere di filmare la McLaren Artura GT4 del team inglese Elite Motorsport durante una giornata di test in pista organizzata da Kateyama sul circuito di Misano, in Italia. Si tratta del modello che ha sostituito la precedente 570S GT4 ma con molti importanti novita' tra cui la nuova monoscocca in fibra di carbonio McLaren Carbon Fiber Lightweight Architecture (MCLA) che fornisce una interessante riduzione di peso. Proprio il peso e' un'elemento chiave se consideriamo il fatto che rispetto all'Artura stradale non viene montata l'unita' ibrida e questo permette alla nuova vettura da corsa di essere piu' leggera di oltre 100 kg rispetto alla 570S GT4 uscente. Il propulsore impiegato, montato longitudinalmente in posizione centrale e' l'M630, un 3.0-Litri V6 120 Twin-Turbo capace di sviluppare 577Hp. Notevolmente piu' leggero e piu' piccolo dell'unita' precedente, il V8 M838 utilizzato nella nella 570S GT4, il nuovo motore V6 migliora ulteriormente il rapporto peso/potenza, abbassa il baricentro della vettura e favorisce la distribuzione del peso. A muovere il propulsore ci pensa un cambio a sette velocita' con una serie migliorata di rapporti ottimizzati per le prestazioni e il sistema di trasmissione dispone di un software diagnostico integrato. L'unita' non e' la stessa del cambio ad otto marce dell'auto stradale Artura poiche quest'ultima utilizza il motore elettrico per la retromarcia; Il regolamento GT4 richiede che l'auto abbia la retromarcia.
