Maserati 300 SI Spyder Fantuzzi (1959) Chassis 3082 – 280Hp 6-cylinder inline Engine Sound on track!

I enjoyed filming this stunning and original 1959 Maserati 300 SI Spyder Fantuzzi, chassis 3082, in action during the 2024 edition of the Modena Cento Ore. It's rare to see such a marvel taken to the track and certainly not to go for a ride, but to race it as a car of this type, born for racing, should be used. The vehicle, one of the last 26 examples built from 1955 to 1958, was bodied by Fantuzzi and sold new in Angola, where it most likely raced in local events and ended up in South Africa until the 1980s. The German driver and historian Burkhard von Schenk later acquired it. Despite several ownership changes, it has continued to compete and is still used in European competitions and events dedicated to classic cars. Last appearance at the 2024 Goodwood Members' Meeting. Mechanically, it adopts a formidable Maserati 3.0-litre naturally aspirated 6-cylinder in-line engine with a double overhead camshaft and 3 Weber 42 DCO3 carburettors capable of developing approximately 280hp at 7,000 rpm. The gearbox is a 4-speed manual ZF, the aluminium body is hand-beaten, and the chassis is made of small-diameter steel tubes. Incredibly light, only 780 Kg, it's capable of awe-inspiring performances with a maximum speed of 290 Km/h (180 mph). Enjoy! ? Ho avuto il piacere di filmare in azione questa straordinaria ed originale Maserati 300 SI Spyder Fantuzzi del 1959, telaio 3082, durante l'edizione 2024 della Modena Cento Ore. Capita raramente di vedere una meraviglia del genere scendere in pista e non certo per andarci a spasso ma farla correre come un'auto del genere, nata per le gare, dovrebbe essere usata. La vettura in oggetto, uno degli ultimi 26 esemplari costruiri dal 1955 al 1958 e' stata carrozzata da Fantuzzi e venduta nuova in Angola, dove molto probabilmente corse in eventi locali e successivamente fin? in Sudafrica fino agli anni '80. In seguito fu acquisita dal pilota e storico tedesco Burkhard von Schenk. Nonostante diversi cambi di proprieta', ha continuato a gareggiare, ed e' impiegata tutt'ora in competizioni e manifestazioni europee dedicate alle auto d'epoca. Ultima apparizione al 2024 Goodwood Members' Meeting. Meccanicamente adotta un formidabile motore Maserati 6 cilindri in linea da 3.0 litri aspirato con doppio albero a camme in testa e 3 carburatori Weber 42 DCO3 capace di sviluppare circa 280hp a 7.000 giri/min. Il cambio e' un ZF manuale a 4 marce, la carrozzeria in alluminia e' battuta a mano ed il telaio e' composto da tubolari in acciaio di piccolo diametro. Estremamente leggera, solo 780 Kg, e' capace di prestazioni davvero impressionanti con una velocita' massima di 290 Km/h (180 mph). Buona visione! ? ???????
