Over the past few years at the Goodwood Festival of Speed ??, I have enjoyed seeing and filming several McLaren F1 GTR Longtail examples. I wanted to include two versions with the beautiful Gulf livery in this video. The short version, chassis 12R, is one of 9 that were built in 1996. Another nine were built in 1995 for a total of 18 cars. Ray Bellm and James Weaver drove this one for the Gulf Racing / GTC team, which obtained four victories in the 1996 British BPR championship. It has now been converted and registered for road use. In the Logtail version, you can see that chassis 28R is one of 10 built in 1997 and was born as a reserve chassis for the Gulf Racing team / GTC. It debuted midway through the 1997 season at the N?rburgring race and was subsequently involved in an accident at the opening of the Spa Francorchamps race. After a few ownership changes between Japan and the United States, it is currently part of a private collection in Switzerland. Since 2017, it has been modified by Lanzante and converted to be registered for road use. Indeed, for all the McLaren F1s built, the magic of this car is also due to the extraordinary 6.0-litre naturally aspirated V12 engine built by BMW (BMW S70/3 GTR 60? V12) capable of developing 600 hp at 7,500 rpm and moved by the 6-speed sequential gearbox. Also, how can we forget the particularity of the central drive, the chassis, and the body, built in carbon fibre? Altre 9 furono costruire nel 1995 per un totale di 18 vetture. Questa in particolar modo fu pilotata da Ray Bellm e James Weaver per il Gulf Racing / GTC team ottenendo quattro vittorie nel campionato Inglese BPR del 1996. Attualmente e' stata convertita e targata per uso stradale. La versione Logtail che vedete, telaio 28R e' una delle 10 costruite nel 1997 e nasce come telaio di riserva per il Gulf Racing team /GTC. Debutta a meta' stagione 1997 alla gara del N?rburgring e successivamente fu coinvolta nell'incidente all'apertura della gara di Spa Francorchamps. Dopo alcuni passaggi di proprieta' tra Giappone e Stati Uniti attualmente fa parte di una collezione privata in Svizzera e dal 2017 e' stata modificata da Lanzante e convertita per essere immatricolata per un uso stradale. Sicuramente per tutte le McLaren F1 costruite, la magia di quest'auto e' dovuta anche allo straordinario motore V12 aspirato da 6.0-Litri costruto da BMW (BMW S70/3 GTR 60? V12) capace di sviluppare 600 cv a 7.500 giri/min e mosso dal cambio sequenziale a 6 marce. Inoltre come non ricordare la particolarita' della guida centrale, del telaio e della carrozzeria costruiti in fibra di carbonio.
