2015 Citroen DS3 D-Sport Review

The Citroen DS3 has been updated with a new look and the addition of more efficient petrol and diesel engines.

The updated DS3 hatch and DS3 Cabriolet have adopted a “hypnotic gaze” with new headlights featuring three LEDs and xenon lamps, as well as LED daytime running lights and sequential turn indicators.

Said to be inspired by Citroen’s Numero 9 and Wild Rubis concept cars, the headlights are expected to be offered as standard on more expensive D-Sport models, but as an option on the more affordable D-Style models.

The updated DS3 range brings a number of changes under the bonnet. Two new 1.6-litre turbo diesel four-cylinder engines have been added to the range, with either 75kW or 89kW of power, with claimed fuel consumption of just 3.0 litres per 100km for the former and 3.6L/100km for the latter.

The current 1.6-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine in the D-Style (with 88kW/160Nm) appears to have been dropped from the international line-up, with a new 1.2-litre three-cylinder engine with 61kW of power instead on offer. That engine is available with a five-speed clutchless automatic transmission, with claimed consumption of 4.1L/100km.

The other 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder remains unchanged with 115kW and 240Nm in the D-Sport.

Other updates include a new active city brake system that works up to 35km/h, and a reverse-view camera is now available for the DS3 for the first time.

Other revisions include new colours, new wheel designs and a laser-etched dashboard finish.
