2004 Williams-BMW FW26 F1 SCREAMING V10 at the Goodwood Hillclimb!

During the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed I filmed this BMW Williams FW26, used by the British F1 team for the 2004 season, driven by Karun Chandhok and Juan Pablo Montaya up the Goodwood hillclimb course. At the start of the season this car was characterized by a tusk nose, also called 'walrus nose' which was aimed at optimising the airflow under the nose cone. But the FW26 quickly proved not to be a contender for the title, suffering from the weight of the nose, so a more conventional one was studied and fitted before the Hungarian Grand Prix and was kept for the last 6 races of the season. Thanks to this upgrade and to the power of its BMW P84 3.0 litre V10 engine, the FW26 was able to finally achieve a victory in the season finale at Interlagos with Juan-Pablo Montoya behind the wheel but also the well know fastest lap at Monza Circuit did in pre-qualifying session (1:19.525) at an average speed of 262.242 km/h (162.9 mph).
