2002 Dallara SP1 LMP900 Prototype – Judd V10 N/A Engine Sound at Mugello Classic 2024

I had the pleasure of seeing in action one of the six fabulous Dallara SP1 LMP900 Prototypes built, in this case, the last one, 2002, chassis DO-006, which raced over the years with the colours of Rollcentre Racing. We are at the 2024 Mugello classic, the first stage of the European championship dedicated to historic cars organized by Peter Auto; specifically, this car races in the Endurance Racing Legend category. The car in the video is driven by the English driver Gregor Fisken; many of you remember that for years, the car was taken to the track and maintained by Martin Short, who, however, decided to retire from racing. Let's go in order. Twin car of the DO-004 built for the 2002 season, commissioned by Oreca and lined up with the colours of the PlayStation team. Oreca debuted at Le Mans in 2002, finishing in sixth final position led by Stephane Sarrazin, Franck Montagny and Nicolas Minassian. After two years of inactivity, in 2004, it was sold to the Rollcentre Racing Team, which took it to race with the drivers Rob Barff, Martin Short and Vanina Ickx, obtaining 6th place in the 1000km of the Nurburgring. In the 2005 season, the car was very competitive, crossing the finish line in third place at the 1000km of Spa, the 1000km of Monza, and the 1000km of Silverstone. As we said, this car is the last chassis built and adopts the 72 Judd GV4 V10 engine with a 4.0-litre displacement, capable of developing 730hp at 11,000 rpm! The car has a carbon fibre monocoque chassis, and the bodywork is made of the same materials. The suspensions are push rod type, with double trapezoid and double shock absorbers produced by Dynamic Suspensions and Eibach springs. Finally, we find brakes in composite material produced by Carbon Industrie coupled with Brembo callipers and 18" OZ rims. The gearbox is a 6-speed sequential made by Xtrac coupled to a viscous coupling differential via a CFC clutch. Ho avuto il piacere di vedere in azione una delle sei favolose Dallara SP1 LMP900 Prototipo costruite, in questo caso l'ultima, anno 2002, telaio DO-006 che ha corso negli anni con i colori della Rollcentre Racing. Ci troviamo all'edizione 2024 del Mugello classic, prima tappa del campionato Europeo dedicato alle auto storiche organizzata da Peter Auto; nello specifico questa vettura corre nella categoria Endurance Racing Legend. L'auto nel video e' guidata dal pilota inglese Gregor Fisken, molti di voi si ricordano che per anni la vettura e' stata portata in pista e mantenuta da Martin Short che pero' ha deciso di ritirarsi dalle corse. Andiamo con ordine. Vettura gemella della DO-004, realizzata per la stagione 2002 su commissione di Oreca e schierata con i colori del team Playstation Oreca debutto' a Le Mans nel 2002 chiudendo in sesta posizione finale guidata da Stephane Sarrazin, Franck Montagny e Nicolas Minassian. Dopo due anni di inattivita', nel 2004 viene venduta al Rollcentre Racing Team che la porta a correre con i piloti Rob Barff, Martin Short e Vanina Ickx ottenendo il 6? posto alla 1000km del Nurburgring. Nella stagione 2005 la vettura risulta molto competitiva riuscendo a tagliare il traguardo in terza posizione alla 1000km di Spa, alla 1000km di Monza e alla 1000km di Silverstone. Come abbiamo detto, questa vettura e' l'ultimo telaio costuito ed adotta il motore Judd GV4 V10 di 72 con cilindrata di 4.0-Litri, capace di sviluppare 730cv ad un regime di rotazione massimo di 11.000 giri/min! La vettura e' dotata di telaio monoscocca in fibra di carbonio ed anche la carrozzeria e' realizzata negli stessi materiali. Le sospensioni sono di tipo push rod, con doppi trapezi, doppi ammortizzatori realizzati da Dynamic Suspensions e molle Eibach. Infine troviamo freni in materiale composito realizzati da Carbon Industrie accoppiati a pinze Brembo e cerchi OZ da 18". Il cambio e' un sequenziale a 6 marce realizzato da Xtrac accoppiato a un differenziale a giunto viscoso tramite una frizione CFC.
