1979 Renault RS10 F1 Twin-Turbo V6 Sound: The first turbocharged F1 car to win a GP

The Renault RS10 was the successor of the RS01, used in the previous 2 years more like a development mule for the V6 engine than an actual winning car, and it features some important differences compared to its predecessor. The little 1.5L Gordini-Renault V6 engine has two turbos instead of the single one of the RS01 and it was able to produce more than 500 hp at 11,000 rpm.Another key aspect of the RS10 was its ground-effect underbody. It was introduced a few races after the start of the 1979 season and it was able to win the French GP at Dijon-Prenois with Jean-Pierre Jabouille behind the wheel. Even if the win was memorable for F1 history and future, that race is best known for the epic 2nd place battle between Rene Arnoux in the other RS10 and Gilles Villeneuve with the Ferrari 312 T4.
